V TORRES is a Los Angeles based singer, songwriter and musician whose sound is rooted in a unique range that blends indie-rock, funky beach Americana, and stripped down vocal-heavy ballads.
Expansive, free, all out— V TORRES’ musical expression rides the power of the journey, delves into the gratitude of becoming, and leans into the fluidity of desire and intuition. Taking the driver’s seat co-producing her sophomore album, Woman, (expected to release in Fall of 2026) her latitude in creative direction has led to a deeply personal project that oozes vulnerability and sheer grit that’s energetically punctuated with her signature style.
Born and raised in the coastal suburbs of Southern California, V TORRES grew up listening to the deep cuts of her parents’ record collection. Heavily loaded with her dad’s predisposition towards psychedelic bands such as Pink Floyd, the groovy rock of Moody Blues and Steely Dan, and outlaw country like Hank Williams Jr., — her influence was balanced out with her mom’s collection of singer/songwriters like legend Joni Mitchell, the rock of Janice Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, and the disco funk of The Bee Gees and Earth Wind and Fire. And while neither of her parents were musicians themselves, their love of music was infectious. Inspired, V got her first electric guitar when she was eleven years old and started taking lessons. Even though she was a lefty, she was determined to make her right-handed guitar work. Guitar lessons quickly expanded into songwriting and by the time she was in high school she was playing her own music at local open mics. By college, she was booked at famous ticketed LA venues like The Roxy and The Viper Room with her first band, Gorgeous Got a Gun. Her first EP, Real Life Love, was released in 2017 and in the years following she recorded and dropped single after single, notably “Best of It,” “Golden Hour,” and “The Comedown.”
With her latest record complete— V TORRES has stayed true to her roots, but her sound has emerged into something more. One could speculate that it’s simply more life-lived, more story to tell— but it’s deeper than that. The intentional down-shift into the making of this album allowed for intuition to take the lead, and the result is a sonically amplified, lyrically unguarded composition that is simultaneously robust, raw and untethered. With a heart cracked-wide open, themes of love, grief, and personal exploration are woven throughout the record in facets authentic to the weight of the female experience.
