Brighton-based singer Salt Ashes aka Veiga Sanchez, lover of UK electronic music, burst onto the dance music scene with her signature darks songs and melodies with a zeitgeist club sound, all of which was inspired by Giorgio Moroder’s blend of disco and epic dark atmospheres.
In 2014 Radikal Records released her singles “Somebody” and “If You Let Me Go,” which reached the Top 5 on both Billboard and Music Week Dance Charts. She also won MTVU Freshmen and MTV IGGY’s ‘Artist of the Week’ for “If You Let Me Go.” In 2015, she continued to build her unique blend of dark synth-pop with her single “Raided,” a BBC Introducing and Spotify fan favorite, having been play-listed by 1Xtra. The singer also contributed her writing and vocal talents on label-mate Kristian Nairn’s single entitled “4Love,” and rising producer CRUELS’ single “Give It Up,” both of which received massive support worldwide.
Her self-titled debut album, produced by Daniel Fridholm (AKA Cruelty) and Rob Irving, is set for release for July 15, 2016. The album will appeal to fans of Kylie Minogue, Tove Lo, Grimes, and Lykkie Li. Salt Ashes’ debut will build her status her as an artist to watch in the electronic music scene. “ ‘Save it’ is about fighting for a love that others don’t approve of but it’s so etched into your skin and soul that you can’t think or do anything else. I co-wrote the song with Rob Irving (House of Emeralds) within a couple of really chilled sessions and the first thing we created was the bassline which we fell in love with. After that, the lyrics and everything else flew out pretty quickly.”
