Biography

Listening to A Kiss Could Be Deadly’s self-titled debut is like flirting with danger firsthand in a world where everyday assertions instantly shift to mysterious intrigue and innocence rapidly disintegrates to guilt. While the immediate premise may sound like a seedy romance novel gone awry, there’s plenty of storytelling substance within the project’s chilling lyrical dichotomy, not to mention a sonic swath that assaults all senses in the first degree.

Part throwback to the decade of decadence and part “Madonna for a modern generation” as synth-sultan/songwriter/programmer Chris Qualls so aptly puts, expect a core penetrating blend of metallic keyboards, slicing guitar riffs and dance-floor debauchery, wrapped around striking vocals from front woman Lauren Baird.. more!

Band members:
Chris Qualls - synths/songwriter/programmer
Lauren Baird - vocals
Kelly Cairns - bass
John Bennett - guitar
Danny Deleon - drums

Press Quotes:

"A Kiss Could Be Deadly is one my favorite new indie bands to emerge this year. Their potent fusion of pop, electro and rock is very infectious, danceable and fun to listen to... a confident slice of synth-pop much in the vein of Shiny Toy Guns and other California electro rockers." - ArjanWrites

“[Lauren]'s voice will have you coming back to this CD like rats to the button for food pellets... They boast that there isn't anything like it out there—and it's true. I can see people dancing to this...or painting, humping, reflecting—whatever.” - Skratch Magazine

"A Kiss Could Be Deadly tastefully combine rock, punk, new wave, and pop into a unique and mesmerizing sound. Definitely an act worth checking out if you like music, period" - Skinnie Magazine

“They have the IT factor” - Socal Monthly

“combines the energy of punk with the beats and hooks of early dance electronica” - Synthtopia

“makes you want to turn on the strobe light and do that new-wave skipping dance” - IE Weekly
